All dogs and cats six (6) months or older must have a valid pet license and identification tags. This allows the Village of Marwayne to contact you if your pet gets lost. License fees are due by February 28th annually. If you fail to purchase or renew your license by the end of February, the fee per animal doubles.
Basic License $30.00
Spayed/Neuteured $15.00
Pet tags are available for renewal and/or purchase at the Village Administration Office. We need your contact information, the name and breed of your animal(s), and the associated payment to update our list. Please be advised that failure to license your pet may result in fines and/or enforcement under our Animal Control Bylaw.
If your pet is picked up by the animal control officer or a member of our staff, you will incur an animal at large fine. Once picked up, we check the animal for tags and attempt to contact you. If we cannot contact you, you pet will be taken to the Lloydminster Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). In order to retrieve your pet, you must pay the transportation fee of $145.00 plus the associated SPCA fees. Your pet will not be released by the SPCA until all fees have been paid.
The community can help in keeping animals under control by:
- Reporting concerns to the Village administration office;
- Documenting offenses with written verification of nature and location of offense, including date, time, description of animal, name and address of owner (if known); amd
- Seizing a dog or cat found at large and delivering it to the Village administration office during regular business hours for transportation to the Lloydminster SPCA.
We are waiving pet license fees for 2024 if you complete our Pet Licensing Form on or before January 30th, 2024. Please complete the form available here or come into the administration office with your pet!
