FCM Awards celebrate the best sustainability and environmental initiatives in municipalities of all sizes and regions across Canada.
 
2015   Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) Sustainability in Action award:
Marwayne’s success at implementing the Umbrella Governance structure for its non-profits has allowed the Village of Marwayne to focus on developing a community vision that supports a sustainable, vibrant future. Annual reviews of Sustainability and Strategic plans has allowed Marwayne to put its dreams into action.
 
2012   Minister of Municipal Affairs Award of Excellence for Small Communities:
Sustainability through Grass Roots Partnerships
The Umbrella Governance Structure provided the mechanism for volunteers, community groups, and the Village of Marwayne to work together to identify community needs, implement plans, and provide better recreational facilities and programs.
 
2012   Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA)

2012   Minister of Municipal Affairs Award of Excellence for Partnerships:
For the Eastern Alberta Trade Corridor Foreign Direct Investment Strategy
The Village is one of the 83 municipalities that have worked together to develop this strategy to enhance our region. The purpose is to enhance the economic sustainability of the Eastern Alberta communities by leveraging the development of an extensive Eastern Alberta trade corridor to foster cooperation between a multitude of communities.

2009   Municipal Sustainability Plan: Looking to the Future.
Alberta Urban Municipalities Association / Alberta Environment honoured the Village of Marwayne with the 2009 Municipal Sustainability Award: Founders Communities. Two governing bodies (one urban and one rural) partner and grow a community that will be self - sustaining and provide a process for community members to find solutions to address the social, cultural, economic, environmental, and governance challenges of today while establishing a Legacy for future generations.
2009   Municipal Sustainability Leadership Award:
Alberta Urban Municipalities Association / Alberta Environment recognized association members, other organizations, and individuals who play a significant role in implementing a municipal sustainability planning initiative.
